IMPACT EVENTS

Friends of the Carpenter

Various Dates Throughout Year

FOTC is a non-profit, faith-based day facility that provides safety, structure and purpose for vulnerable members of our community.

Every year we send volunteers to and provide supplies for a number of annual programs and fundraisers including their Dinner & Auction, Association Churches Breakfast, and Christmas Concert.

Knights of Pythias Retirement Center

Various Dates Throughout Year

An active community that provides affordable retirement home housing, an optional meal plan, and twenty-four hour security for senior citizens.

Some of our members love visiting residents and helping with special events like the Valentine's Day party, 4th of July BBQ, or Holiday Bizarre.

We have also enjoyed sponsoring their staff appreciation dinner.

Habitat For Humanity

Summer Months

A Christian organization seeking to put God’s love into action, Habitat for Humanity brings people together to build homes, communities, and hope.

Members, guests, and partners, have assisted with and volunteered for building and renovation projects.

Our last project involved renovating an old, classic home for someone in need on Historic Ridgefield Main Street

Vancouver Public Schools

During School Year

There is no better place to help the local community then our schools.

Members and ministry partners have teamed up with local businesses to host faculty and staff appreciation lunches on site at local elementary and middle schools.

Teachers, administrators, and support staff are treated to special meals prepared by local restaurants and food vendors.

Community BBQ & Chili Cook-Off

Late October - Early November

Slow smoked pork ribs, chicken, beans, potatoes, slaw, and a wide verity homemade chili, washed down by a cold glass of sweet tea or lemonade.

We bring in some of the best BBQ in the area while members and ministry partners invite guests and the general public to taste test and vote on their mild, medium, and spicy chili recipies.

Local BBQ has included Adam's Rib & More and Daddy D's Southern Style BBQ.

Advent Candlelight Dinner

Early December

A special, semi-formal, candlelit dinner for members, guests, and ministry partners hosted by the women of Life Journey.

Hosts elaborately decorate their tables with beautiful Christmas decor, fine China, and some of the best homemade deserts of the season.

Catering for the main course ham and roast beef dinner traditionally catered by Home Town Buffet.

Living Nativity

Mid-Late December

Bethlehem as it was 2000 years ago.

Members and ministry partners play the roles of historical characters as the public comes to see the manger, Mary, Joseph, the baby Jesus, the three wise men, shepherds, Roman soldiers, and live animals like sheep, goats, rabbits, horses, and other livestock.

Sponsored by Thrivent Financial.

Eggstraveganza Easter Egg Hunt

Easter Sunday

Every Easter, our members host an Easter egg hunt open to the general public for children up to 5th grade.

Older youth in middle and high school volunteer to stuff plastic eggs with goodies, including golden egg prize winners!

Prizes in past years included large stuffed bunnies, Easter arts and crafts, model cars, and a number of other kids toys for both girls and boys.
